I’m Fengyang Ma. I am an assistant professor in the Center for English as a Second Language in School of Education at University of Cincinnati.

My research interests center on the Psycholinguistic investigation of bilingualism. I am particularly interested in examining different aspects of bilingual lexical processing with both behavioral and ERP methods. Specifically, I study

  1. Meaning retrieval of L2 words as a function of proficiency,
  2. Parallel activation of both languages during L2 word recognition,
  3. Plasticity of cognitive control mechanisms during bilingual word production, and
  4. How bilinguals juggle with verbal and non-verbal cues during language processing.
